Dear Jon:

I am pleased to offer you a two year appointment as Research Associate in
Computer Science at a salary of $25,300 per year, contingent on continued
government research support at expected levels.
This would be a full time position doing research in formal reasoning.
You would be free to do additional consulting up to one day a week.

I propose a starting date of September 1, 1980, but we can negotiate a different
date if you prefer.
The University will cover normal travel and moving expenses (up to 8,000
pounds) from your current residence to here as well as temporary living
expenses here while finding a place to live.
The latter amount is $35 per day for up to 7 days if single or $53 per day
for up to 15 days if married.

I would appreciate it if you could make your decision within the next couple
of months.
I look forward to a productive association.
